Before Lin & Larry Pardey, there was Peter Tangvald who circumnavigated the globe without an engine aboard this 49 foot gaff rigged wooden cutter L'Artemis de Pytheas which he built himself in French Guiana. In this photo, he is sailing the boat out of Ensenada Honda at Culebra Island in 1987 when Peter was 63, with his sixth wife, 19 year old Florence and three children that were born on the boat by different wives! His interesting autobiography "At Any Cost," is a good example of what not to do when cruising!
